Let's Dance!

I'm SO very excited to announce that I am a proud new member of the UC International Dance Team, Dhadak!
(Dhadak means "beats"...I think)
Dhadak is currently ranked as the 4th Bollywood fusion team in the nation.

For those who don't know what "fusion dance" is, I'll give you the low down.
Fusion Dance is when one takes any kind of style of dance, such as Hip Hop or Contemporary, and mixes it with the style of Bollywood.
After dancing for a studio for practically all of my life (15 years), it was exciting to find a dance team on campus that focused on hard work, fun, and gaining some titles.  I auditioned somewhat on a whim and had a blast the entire time!  I have danced Hip Hop many times before, but Bollywood was a new concept to me.

A picture from my audition! Unfortunately, I was sitting too far to the right and got cut out of the photo :(

It was hard at first, but I got the hang of it at the end. Even if it left me sore for a week!

This should prove to be a good time!

Have a great day!

Skirts and Such

It has finally arrived.
The Season of the Skirt is upon us.
I, for one, am SO excited!  To start celebrating this awesome season, I've been scouring the web and stores for the perfect skirts.
Oh...and shoes :)

Tiered Asymmetrical Skirt from Forever 21
Asymmetrical is all the rage from skirts, to shirts, and even hoodies.
This skirt looks perfect with that mint green top and nude heels :)

Asymmetrical Midi Skirt from Forever 21
Same concept, brighter color.

Frenchi Button Front Chambray Skirt (Juniors) from Nordstrom
I love this skirt. It's so simple and casual and looks great with flats, sandals, heels...anything!

Rubbish Tennis Skirt (Juniors) from Nordstrom
Another casual skirt that looks oh-so comfortable.

Swing Mini Skort from Forever 21
The color is so brilliant and springy!

Belted Paperbag Waist Skirt from Forever 21
A cute, high-wasted skirt is great for that summer job. Bonus! It comes with a belt!

Crossed High-Low Hem Skirt
I'm in love with this crazy hem line. It looks like it's begging to go out salsa dancing!

Now on to the Shoes!

Aldo Sprouls from Aldo Shoes
I've been dreaming about these dreamy shoes since I first set eyes on them.
Mint green, smooth, beautiful.

Aldo Schille from Aldo Shoes
From the color cognac to the striped heel, this shoe is a winner.

Aldo Siewert from Aldo Shoes
Love this color and those cute tassels! I'm picturing these with a skirt or summery dress.

Aldo Marter from Aldo Shoes
These would look great with an asymmetrical black skirt.
Polished, classy, and chic.

Happy Shopping :)

The Votes Are In

The votes are in and I'm proud to announce that I have been selected as one of the eight new At-Large Senator's for Undergraduate Student Government at The University of Cincinnati.
My, that is a lot of capitalization.
I'm so so so excited for this new position!  When I first joined Student Government through the First Year Leadership Program in the fall, I knew I wanted to continue working with SG.  The people, the atmosphere...the power (just kidding :) were all reasons I wanted to serve my student body.
And with over 2,000 votes from 1/4 of the over 40,000 students that attend UC, I'd say I'm pretty proud of this accomplishment as well :)
To document my triumph, I've linked up this blog post for anyone who'd like to read the article written about the up-and-coming representatives ----->   The News Record
Congratulations to all of those who also won the title of At-Large Senator, and special congratulations to the new President and Vice President.  They did a fantastic job with their campaign and I can't wait to see what's in store for UC!

Go Bearcats!

US Senators - some of the few people who have more power than UC Senators haha ;)

Spring Fling

I am now, officially, on Spring Break.
So, in order to celebrate a long awaited break from reality, my friend and I decided to have a picnic and photo shoot in the park (the latter of which is viewable to you...right under these words).
Excellent.

Spring Trend Predictions

Through magazines and advertisements, I've come to see a trend in the fashions and styles of the new Spring Season. Here are my predictions.

Brightly colored skinny jeans are going to be big for Spring.  Just look in any retail store in your local mall...they're already out there! I got myself a yellow pair :) Which color will you choose?

Cascading braids are a little complicated, but worth it. Braids and little twists are going to keep appearing through Spring.

Colorblock is so cute on dresses, nails, and tops.

Baseball tees are going to become a "thing" again, as they show off your sporty side while still showing off your curves.

Polka dot jeans! A new trend for Spring I can't wait to try!

Kitten heels and floral patterns.  I don't think either ever went out of style, but they're making another appearance this Spring.

Shark tooth necklaces.
Dun na. Dun na. Dun na dun na dun na dun na.

Cat eyes. I've been trying them out since winter break, and I gotta say - they are purrrrfect for Spring.
Meow.

Tribal patterns. I noticed this trend in the Fall of 2011, and I'm thrilled it's kept in the game for Spring.

Have a great weekend :)

Spring is in the Air

Is it just me (or maybe Cincinnati) or has the weather been unusually...spring-like lately?
I'm sure this is due to many different factors involving climate control, El Nino, and other world changing events like that (Global Warming, anyone?).  But this post is not dedicated to science (I'm saving science for my Bill Nye the Science Guy post).  No, this post shall be dedicated to all things spring - even if the groundhog predicts six more weeks of winter.
Weeeeeee!

Here are the things about spring that make me sing.

I can't have a post about spring without talking about flowers.  Doesn't this picture just bring out your inner desire to romp?

New season, new reason to break out the Nikon.

Nothing says "Spring is here!" quite like waking up to the smell of freshly cut grass.

With spring comes sunlight - and I'm always down for some sunlight :)

The warmer climate brings out the inner dreamer in me. Time to dream new dreams and make them happen.

The quote on this one doesn't exactly match up with this post.  However, I found the movement of the picture refreshing.  Spending time getting lost in the woods is one of the many perks to warmer weather.

One thing that I've missed dearly since "winter" decided to make its way - the song of birds.  Hearing a bird sing at any time of the day is an instant mood lifter.

Bye-bye bare branches, hello blossoms :)

Blow on this flower of a weed and make a wish as the seeds float to the ground.

Spring is a time to sit back and think about your next move in life. But never forget how far you've already gotten.

Have a beautiful false spring :)
